Bring on the Capitanes! The Halifax Rainmen are gearing up for revenge against the league-leading Puerto Rico Capitanes after easily disposing of the Maryland GreenHawks Saturday night at the Metro Centre.
The Rainmen pelted the GreenHawks, 147-105, in front of a noisy hometown crowd. Their season-high point total has the 9-2 Rainmen in high gear as they reeled off their fourth straight win. Their last loss came against the Capitanes back in Puerto Rico on Jan. 28. The Capitanes are 10-1 on the season, after a recent loss to the defending league champs, the Rochester RazorSharks.
The Rainmen started fast out of the gate again Saturday night, leading 32-26 after the first quarter, and 68-52 at the half.
The Rainmen then struck for 43 points in the third quarter, ending any hope for a rally by the GreenHawks.
Gary Gallimore led the Rainmen with 26 points, while Eric Crookshank added 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Rainmen remain undefeated at home on the season, and the showdown is now set for their rematch on home court Friday night against the Capitanes, starting at 7 p.m. The Capitanes have two road games before arriving in Halifax, Sunday night against the Manchester Millrats and Thursday in Quebec against the Kebs.
