FROST HEAVES UPSET RAINMEN 111-105 BACK HOME
latestnews-smThe Halifax Rainmen’s four-game win streak came to an end on the road Sunday afternoon when the Rainmen fell to the Vermont Frost Heaves 111-105 in overtime.

Two free throws by Vermont’s Matt Hall, with 3.7 seconds left, tied the game at 93, and Halifax's three-point attempt at the buzzer came up short, sending the game to overtime.

The Rainmen, who fall to 9-3 on the season, led after the first quarter 27-21, after a slow start by both teams. But Vermont fought back and led 48-43 at the half.  Vermont led after three quarters but Halifax came out in the fourth and took command of the game for a while.  Cold free throw shooting, however, seemed to be Halifax's Achilles heel. That allowed Vermont to get back in to the game.

Halifax was led in scoring by Tony Bennett with 28 points, followed by Eric Crookshank with 23, and Gary Ervin with 19 points.  Halifax shot 14-34 from the charity stripe.

Vermont had six players in double figures, led by Dwuan Rice with 19 points, Aaron Cook with 18, and Juwan Bailey with 17 points.  Marshall Brown had 12 points and Al Stewart popped in 11.

The Rainmen’s next scheduled game is Friday night in Quebec against the Kebs.
